AQAV has announced a new Executive Director, Bill Lawrence. Bill has been a board member for the last 6 years and has taken on the task of Executive Director. We have also added Kelly Perkins to the board as the VP of Marketing. Additional Board members are currently being reviewed and will be announced in November just after World Quality Day.

He has driven program and business development for international design and delivery in multiple global theaters, including UK, EMEA, BENELUX and Asia Pacific. Bill has worked internationally with the global leaders in Audio Visual Integration, designing and deploying systems throughout the United States and rest of the world, traveling to 14 countries in the process.

Bill has a passion for quality, a drive for success, and enjoys sharing knowledge and capturing new business by building the Client's confidence and trust. Bill truly believes that focusing on Quality saves time and cost, and admits that it may not always be the easiest thing to message –but it's always the right thing.

Jeremy Elsesser,

Retired

Jeremy is the President and CEO at Level 3 Audiovisual. With over 20 years of delivering integrated media technology solutions, Jeremy has a vision focused on elevating the individuals, organizations, and industry at large to achieve their greatest mutual potential. As a quality evangelist, Jeremy maintains a continual improvement mindset that is present in all aspects of his leadership approach and ideology.

Jeremy’s passion for AV started very young in the deserts of Arizona helping produce and manage some of the premier underground events happening in the early 90’s. Setting his sights on a career in IT, Jeremy worked as a commercial electrician while pursuing technical certifications in network and server administration. Jeremy then served as a network administrator at a local naturopathic college for several years before finding a home in the AV industry. This unique set of experiences set the stage for innovation for Jeremy as he vehemently grew his abilities in the design, deployment, and support of AV/IT technologies.

Jeremy serves on the Board of Directors for both PSNI as well as the Association for Quality in Audio Visual Technology (AQAV). As a lifelong learner, Jeremy is passionate about giving back through education and volunteers as an adjunct faculty instructor for Avixa as well as AQAV.

Jeremy is the recipient of the Avixa 2019 Educator of the Year, AQAV 2017 Quality Champion Award, and was recognized in the 2014 edition of the Commercial Integrators Top 40 under 40 Influencers.

Mike Keadle

Mike is the A/V Division Manager for NCS in Houston, TX. He has been involved in the AV industry for over 20 years. He first started as a live sound engineer in the music industry and then moved into the commercial AV world.

He has held installation, design, and management positions throughout his career. Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee as a Music Business major with an emphasis in Audio Engineering. He also earned his CTS-D and CTS-I certifications through AVIXA and his CQD and CQT certifications through AQAV. Mike is an AVIXA Senior Faculty Member and has taught both design and installation courses over the last 14 years. He has also served on numerous industry committees and written articles for industry publications. Additionally, he co-authored and taught the Quality Troubleshooting class for AQAV.

Gary Malick

Gary is currently the Manager of Audiovisual Technologies at Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington. He has been with the university since 1995 working in various capacities but always involved with audiovisual technologies. Prior to the university, Gary served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years as a technician and broadcast engineer with Armed Forces Radio and Television and Combat Camera units.

Gary got his start with AQAV in 2014 being certified at the CQD level and then achieving his CQT level the following year. He has also promoted the AQAV standards and organization in presentations at the professional organization known as Northwest MET: Northwest Managers of Educational Technology, at two of their annual conferences. These were well attended and exposed many technology managers in higher education to the benefits of AQAV.

He was awarded the 2017 Certificate of Recognition by AQAV.

Gary is an active member of the Seattle chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, certified as a Broadcast Television Engineer since 1993.

He also holds the AVIXIA certifications of CTS-I and D.

Mario J. Maltese,

Retired

Mario Maltese is AQAV's Director Emeritus and co-Founder, with over 52 years of experience in AV systems design and installation, as well as the leadership and management of the engineered systems integration business. Holds an MSEE (Electrophysics) and a BSEE (Microwave Engineering). He is the recipient, the 2004-5 “Educator of the Year”, Senior Faculty at the InfoComm Academy. He is also the recipient of the “Fred Dixon Award for Excellence”, InfoComm 2011, has been inducted into the SCN Hall of Fame in 2017, and is recognized as an "Industry Legend" on the Commercial Integrator's honor Roll in 2022. Commissioned as a Signal Officer in the USAR, Mario fulfilled duties that, besides command, included Training and Maintenance Management. He developed a patented self-contained intercom system used across bulletproof glass that is currently in use in subway tollbooths and movie theaters. He was the technical committee chair for ICIA’s job force development initiative in the Skills USA national competition and was formerly the Curriculum Subcommittee Chair for the Professional Education and Training Committee of the ICIA (PETC). He is formerly a Senior Faculty member at the InfoComm International Academy.

He has been presenting and publishing works concerning AV Quality since 1999 and is the founder and CEO of Audio Visual Resources, Inc. (“AVR”), which had been ISO9000 certified for fifteen years before being acquired. AVR’s primary source of revenue was 3rd party Testing and Performance Verification for several major AV Buyers. AVR was the first AV9000 Certified company.

He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), and author, “AV 9000: Defining Quality in Engineered Audio-Visual Systems”.

Jim Maltese

Jim is the VP of Quality Standards at Level 3 Audio Visual. He has commissioned thousands of AV systems around the world, ranging from small conference rooms to some of the most complex installations in the world. He strives to continually improve not only the way Level 3 does AV, but also improve the awareness of the AV industry by others in our community.

Working his way up through the ranks, Jim started as a rack fabricator in high school and transitioned to a field tech and project engineer in the time between college degrees (BSME from MIT and MSME from Stanford University). He was a founder and the President of AVR which was known as the premier commissioning service provider of the AV industry. AVR was acquired by Level 3 AV in March of 2019. Combining the Level 3 reputation of stellar AV integration with that of AVR, we redefine how AV is delivered in the AV industry.

In addition to leading the quality side of Level 3, Jim sits on the Board of Directors of the Association for Quality in AV Technology (AQAV) and holds CQD and CQT certifications. Jim is a Senior Faculty Instructor for Avixa and holds two CTS-D and CTS-I certifications. He was awarded the Young AV Professional Award in 2009 from InfoComm, the first year it was awarded. He was awarded InfoComm International’s Educator of the Year in 2017. Jim is a co-host with Jeremy Elsesser on Experience AV, where they hold in-depth conversations about all things AV. He also hosts the Qualiverse, a show/blog that discusses quality in the AV industry.

Outside of AVing, Jim is an avid scouter, an amateur radio operator (N2NIW), and enjoys spending time with his incredible family.

Michael Moore

Michael is Sr. Market Development & Industry Relations (Southeastern U.S.) for Shure Incorporated, focused on creating and nurturing long-term partnerships between enterprise end-users and Shure. Michael spends his time ensuring end users are educated about industry best practices and proper product application.

Michael has held previous positions in live sound and production integration. He also spent several years on the corporate A/V integration side. From pulling the wire to the Director of Technical Operations, Michael has experienced all sides of the project cycle. Additionally, he continues to maintain his CTS-I certification.

Lorrie Morrow,

Retired

Lorrie Morrow, currently enjoying retirement, received her Associates Science degree from Nassau CC, and her ISO 9000 Registered Internal Auditor Training from Stat-A-Matrix Institute. Besides her extensive training and experience in financial administration, Lorrie managed the field service operation for TSI, which included the establishment and documentation of field service procedures, maintaining preventive maintenance contract status, and scheduling and dispatching field personnel. While at World Audio Visual Enterprises (formerly KBI Systems), and based on her experience at TSI, Lorrie helped organize and grow the preventive maintenance operation by over 400% per year for the 5 years she worked in that capacity before moving on to become the Assistant Director of Operations, Administrative.

In 2001, Lorrie became a founding owner and Vice President of Audio Visual Resources, Inc. (an ISO 9000 Company). She is the former Chairman of Communications for the American Red Cross in Nassau County, and an amateur radio operator (KC2CHA). She is a former Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, a former member of The Women in AV, and the International Association of Administrative Professionals. In 2010, Lorrie was appointed an Adjunct Faculty member of Infocomm International Academy (now AVIXA) and was on the original Board of Directors for the Association for Quality in Audio Visual Technology, Inc. (AQAV). She has facilitated their training and education program and held the position of Secretary-Treasurer. She has thirty-two years of experience in administration in the AV industry.

Tom Noble

Tom manages Advanced Services Solution Architecture team. He has been a fixture in the UC market for nearly a decade and has worn hats as a customer, an integrator, and a vendor. During that time, he has led projects and teams involving AV/Collaboration design, commissioning, DSP, live sound, and acoustics.

Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Acoustics from Columbia College Chicago and has actively been involved with volunteering in organizations to grow the AV community. He has three amazing kids and a very amazing wife. Outside of technology, he plays guitar, coaches wrestling, and tinkers in his woodshop in his free time.

James Patterson

James currently serves as the Audio Visual Manager for Baltimore City Public Schools in Baltimore Maryland. With over 160 campuses to look after and 8000+ Staff members to support, he leads a small team AV Specialist to ensure quality by design is a the forefront of every project.

He started his career in primary school where he gained a love for developing experiences, whether it be on stage or behind the scenes. Life continued onto Full Sail where he studied, Recording Arts, and Music Business, then continued on to get his MBA focused in Marketing. From there he has worked in the festival scenes of Southern Florida, Radio promotions in Florida and the Mid Atlantic, Artist management, and then became a teacher. Being a teacher in the classroom of an underfunded City district is what gave him the extra push to move farther into permanent installs.

He started a Consulting firm named Limited Audio, where he worked with community leaders in Houses of Worship, Local Theatres, Event Halls, and general exhibition spaces to help define what true exhibition experiences look like with quality in mind.

Shortly after starting the Limited Audio, he got the role of AV tech at Baltimore City Public Schools, then progressed to lead, and the rest is still unfolding…

Shane Springer,

Shane Springer has been active in technology for over 20 years. During that time he has worked heavily in both the IT systems, Collaboration, and AV spaces. Prior to starting with Zoom, Shane’s AV experience has crossed Programming, Engineering, and Consulting. Today, he works with some of the world’s largest innovators to foster transformative collaboration experiences and promotes quality-first methodologies globally. Shane works alongside Zoom's product team to facilitate ground-breaking new features as well as improve management and scale for Conference Rooms with customers and partners alike. Every day, Shane applies the methods and mental frameworks of AQAV to deliver systems that work consistently and delight users globally.
